UHN Techna Institute, University of Toronto

Dr. Arash Zarrine-Afsar is a Scientist at UHN’s Techna Institute. He is trained as a Physical Biochemist at the University of Toronto. Dr. Zarrine-Afsar’s long-term research interests revolve around developing new tools and techniques to study the dynamics of biological systems, in particular, the transition to the disease state. A multitude of biophysical imaging, spectroscopy and spectrometry techniques is used to reveal changes in cellular chemistry that correlate with the disease state (e.g. conformational dynamics of single molecules in isolation, or compositional dynamics of whole proteome/metabolome).
