How enlightenment changes your brain

In this presentation, Dr. Andrew Newberg, Director of Research at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health, Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital, details findings from his study on the effects of enlightenment on the brain. Newberg discusses the role enlightenment plays within religion, culture, and throughout time, and introduces the concept of neurotheology. Five core components of enlightenment are considered, and the changes seen in the brain that correlate to these components. Newberg also elucidates how these changes in the brain may result in the feeling of enlightenment. This talk was presented at the SelectScience® Virtual Neuroscience Science Summit 2021.
