Ed has previously studied the genomics and epidemiology of a bacterial disease affecting honey bees, using genomic data to develop a typing scheme for the causative pathogen that is now in routine use in the National Bee Unit. His other expertise is in genomic epidemiology of foodborne pathogens of humans, and he has an interest in microbial community analyses, for example, in relation to untargeted pathogen detection.
