Biochemists in Paris Evaluate the High-Sensitivity Troponin I Assay

Troponin I is a protein unique to heart muscle, that is released into the bloodstream when muscle cells break down. As a biomarker therefore, it is highly indicative of myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack. By employing a newly developed, high-sensitivity Troponin I test, laboratory scientists led by Dr. Katell Peoc’h from Paris Diderot University Hospital have been able to more rapidly and accurately diagnose those suffering from acute cardiac events.
